The Support for Market Women Project is one of FECY Foundation’s key community-empowerment initiatives, created to uplift hardworking market women who keep local economies running despite limited resources and daily challenges.

Many market women operate with low capital, inconsistent income, and heavy family responsibilities, making it difficult for them to sustain or grow their businesses.

Through this project, FECY Foundation provides financial assistance, business tools, food items, and welfare support to help market women stabilize their trade, improve their livelihoods, and support their families with dignity.

The Support for Market Women Project was designed to:

*Provide financial and welfare support to struggling market women.

* Strengthen small businesses by offering startup capital or expansion funds.

* Reduce the economic burden on women-led households.

* Promote dignity, resilience, and financial independence in local markets.

This initiative reflects FECY’s belief that empowering a market woman strengthens her family, business, and entire community.

* Identify Market Women in Need

FECY partners with market leaders, local communities, and volunteers to identify women experiencing hardship due to low capital, family burdens, or unexpected economic setbacks.

* Provide Business Capital and Tools

The foundation offers seed funding, cash grants, or essential materials that help women restock, grow, or restart their businesses.

* Distribute Food and Relief Supplies

Beneficiaries receive key welfare items such as food packs, hygiene products, and basic household necessities to ease short-term financial pressure.

* Encourage Financial and Business Stability

Volunteers provide basic business management advice, helping women use their support effectively and sustainably.

* Foster Community Support and Dignity

The project emphasizes respect, empathy, and encouragement — reminding market women that they are valued and supported.

The Support for Market Women Project has brought hope and stability to many families:

FECY also encourages donors to sponsor Market Women Support Packs,  combining business capital with welfare supplies.

FECY Foundation plans to expand the Support for Market Women Project by:

* Reaching more markets, especially in underserved and rural areas.

* Introducing business workshops for women traders.

* Launching a revolving “Women Economic Empowerment Fund.

* Partnering with microfinance institutions and women-focused organizations to scale impact.
