At FECY Foundation, we believe that education goes beyond the classroom. It is about shaping minds, building confidence, and preparing young people to engage thoughtfully with the world around them.
On February 20, 2026, we brought this vision to life through our High School Debate and Quiz Competition, held in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria. The event gathered bright students from various schools in a vibrant display of knowledge, confidence, and intellectual curiosity.
The debate topic—“Social media causes more harm than good to students”—sparked powerful and insightful discussions. Students explored both sides of the argument, addressing issues such as distraction, mental health, access to information, and the role of digital responsibility in today’s world.
Beyond the competition, the event created a safe and engaging space where students could:

The quiz segment further challenged participants, testing their academic knowledge and quick thinking under pressure. It was inspiring to see students rise to the occasion with enthusiasm and determination.
At FECY Foundation, rewarding excellence is a core part of our mission. Outstanding participants were recognized and celebrated, reinforcing the importance of hard work, discipline, and intellectual growth. By acknowledging their efforts, we aim to inspire not only the winners but every student to strive for excellence.

This initiative is part of our broader commitment to restoring hope and creating opportunities for children and youth in our communities. We understand that when young people are encouraged, supported, and empowered, they become catalysts for positive change in society.
The success of this event is a reminder that the future is bright when we invest in young minds. Through programs like this, FECY Foundation continues to nurture a generation of informed, confident, and responsible citizens.
We encourage everyone—individuals, schools, and organizations—to find ways to reward excellence and support youth development.
Together, we can build a society where knowledge, integrity, and critical thinking thrive.
