Overview

The Family and Entrepreneurship Support Initiative is one of FECY Foundation’s long-term poverty alleviation programs — created to empower vulnerable families through small business support, financial assistance, and the provision of essential resources. Many low-income households struggle daily to secure food and basic needs, not because they lack ability or willingness to work, but because they lack the capital and tools to build sustainable livelihoods.

FECY Foundation understands that true poverty alleviation goes beyond feeding — it involves helping families stand on their feet, rebuild their dignity, and create income streams that can sustain them over time. This initiative provides small grants, business tools, and welfare support to help families grow micro-enterprises and escape the cycle of poverty.

Purpose

The Family and Entrepreneurship Support Initiative was designed to:

• Empower low-income families with financial and material support to start or expand small businesses.
• Reduce household poverty by strengthening income-generating activities.
• Support vulnerable families facing economic hardship, unemployment, or financial crises.
• Promote long-term self-reliance and break repetitive cycles of dependency.

What We Do

1. Identify Vulnerable Families and Small Business Owners
   FECY partners with community leaders, volunteers, and local groups to identify families who need support with feeding, welfare, or entrepreneurship.
2. Provide Small Business Grants and Tools
   The foundation offers financial support or trade-specific tools such as sewing machines, retail supplies, foodstock, market tables, or equipment needed to grow micro-enterprises.
3. Offer Welfare and Household Assistance
   In cases of severe hardship, FECY provides food items, hygiene kits, and essential resources to stabilize families before supporting their income activities.
4. Monitor Progress and Encourage Growth
   Volunteers follow up with beneficiaries to ensure their businesses are growing, provide encouragement, and identify additional areas where support may be needed.
5. Promote Financial Responsibility and Community Sharing
   Families are encouraged to reinvest profits, strengthen their ventures, and support others in their communities where possible.
