Overview
The Children’s Day Celebration is one of FECY Foundation’s most joyful and inspiring projects — a day set aside to honor the innocence, creativity, and potential of every child.
Every year on May 27th, FECY Foundation joins millions around the world to celebrate children — not just with fun and laughter, but with love, learning, and empowerment. We see every child as a story waiting to be written, a dream waiting to unfold, and a gift waiting to be unwrapped.
Through this annual event, FECY Foundation reaches out to children in schools and communities — especially those from low-income families — with gifts, games, food, mentorship sessions, and educational activities designed to make them feel valued, confident, and happy.
For us, Children’s Day is more than a celebration; it’s a statement of hope.
Purpose
The purpose of the Children’s Day Celebration is to:
- Celebrate and honor children for their joy, uniqueness, and potential.
- Promote the importance of education, kindness, and self-belief.
- Remind communities that every child deserves love, laughter, and learning opportunities.
- Inspire compassion and awareness for the needs of children in less-privileged areas.
FECY believes that when you put a smile on a child’s face, you give the world a reason to hope again.
What We Do
- Community and School Visits: FECY volunteers visit schools, orphanages, and local communities to spend time with children — celebrating with them through songs, games, and storytelling sessions.
- Gift Distribution and Refreshments: The foundation provides children with treats, toys, clothes, learning materials, and food packs — small tokens that bring big smiles.
- Educational and Inspirational Talks: Our volunteers and guest mentors engage children in brief but powerful talks about self-belief, hard work, honesty, and kindness.
We teach that every dream is possible — no matter where they come from. - Interactive Games and Talent Displays: The event includes fun games, quiz sessions, and mini talent shows, encouraging children to express their creativity freely in a safe, supportive environment.
- Parental and Community Involvement: FECY invites parents, teachers, and local leaders to join the event — creating a shared moment of joy and reinforcing community unity.
Impact
The Children’s Day Celebration has become a memorable annual highlight in every community FECY visits.
- Hundreds of children experience a day of joy, laughter, and learning.
- Families express gratitude for the love and attention shown to their children.
- Teachers report boosted morale among students who feel seen and valued.
- The events strengthen FECY’s relationship with communities and schools, opening more doors for long-term educational projects.
Many of the children who attended past celebrations still remember the volunteers’ kindness and messages of hope — proof that even one joyful day can leave a lasting mark on a young heart.
“Some of these children may forget the games, but they never forget how it felt to be loved.”
Sustainability
FECY Foundation sustains this project through:
- Member and volunteer contributions leading up to Children’s Day.
- Partnerships with donors, schools, and local vendors who help with food, gifts, or logistics.
- Corporate sponsorships for larger community editions.
Each year, the foundation carefully plans and budgets for the event to ensure transparency, consistency, and inclusivity.
Looking Ahead
FECY’s dream is to make the Children’s Day Celebration a nationwide event — reaching thousands of children across different regions of Nigeria.
Future plans include:
- Partnering with media houses to promote awareness of child development and protection.
- Expanding the event to include career discovery corners, where children can learn about different professions in a fun, interactive way.
- Launching “FECY Kids Club”, an initiative that will continue engagement beyond Children’s Day through regular mentorship, reading, and creativity sessions.
The Children’s Day Celebration continues to embody the heartbeat of the FECY Foundation — putting smiles on faces and hope in hearts.
“Every child deserves a reason to smile — and that’s why we show up every May 27th.”
